Partnership with Goodr Broadens Food Availability in Southern Dallas and Million-Dollar Funding Provides Southern Dallas Residents Educational Assistance and Career Opportunities

Frito-Lay today announced additional efforts to help the Southern Dallas community, including a $400,000 grant to Goodr, a logistics and technology company working to end hunger and food waste, and the direction for its 2022 $1 million commitment to Southern Dallas Thrives, a program dedicated to improving education, income, and health across Southern Dallas.

The Frito-Lay partnership with Goodr will provide 144,000 meals to an estimated 16,800 people living in Southern Dallas communities through grocery delivery, popup grocery stores, student snack packs, and meal deliveries. The $1 million to Southern Dallas Thrives in 2022 will continue to support Frito-Lay’s commitment to providing vital investment opportunities to the Southern Dallas community to create lasting change and measurable impact. Programs that will be put into place through the donation will focus on kindergarten preparation, providing nutritious meals to communities in need, college, and career readiness, and creating new career opportunities for community members.

“Frito-Lay has always been – and continues to be - committed to strengthening the communities in which our associates live and work,” said Steven Williams, CEO of PepsiCo Foods North America. The partnership with Goodr will further the work of our programs like Food for Good to address the all-too-common need for fresh and accessible food. As a leading food company, we believe this is our responsibility to our communities and look forward to building on our commitment in 2022.”

“Our overall goal with Southern Dallas Thrives is to continually provide quality resources that are necessary throughout the sector,” said Ashley Douglas, Senior Director of Southern Dallas Thrives at United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. “Southern Dallas Thrives is thrilled to bring Goodr to North Texas, and expand our footprint in food accessibility for southern Dallas communities through this collaborative effort.”
