For 78 of our most elite professional truck drivers, safety is paramount
October 2023 – Frito-Lay North America is proud to unveil its newest class of Million Milers – 78 over-the-road (OTR) truck drivers from the United States and Canada who have driven one million, two million or even three million miles without a preventable accident. In total, these road warriors have safely driven more than 111 million miles – equal to more than 232 accident-free round trips from Earth to the Moon!
Reaching the legendary status of a Frito-Lay Million Miler is not an easy feat. It often takes more than a decade of vigilant, accident-free driving to hit the one-million-mile mark. With that in mind, Frito-Lay is especially proud to recognize three drivers who each achieved Three Million Miler status in 2022:
- William Chewning (Dallas, TX) – 32 years of service
- Jonathan Mann (Killingly, CT) – 34 years of service
- Daniel Rawlings (Frankfort, TN) – 38 years of service
“It is truly our privilege to celebrate the success of our 2022 Million Milers and their unwavering dedication to safety,” Frito-Lay’s Vice President of Transportation Mari Roberts, CTP, says with pride. “Becoming a Frito-Lay Million Miler is about more than just the remarkable number of miles driven. Year after year, these world-class professionals serve as mentors for their fellow drivers, deliver our beloved products with care and prioritize the safety of others without compromise.”
In addition to outstanding safety records, the newest class of Million Milers boasts, on average, 20 years of service with Frito-Lay and PepsiCo. Frito-Lay’s firm commitment to continued education and career growth allows drivers to hone their safety and leadership skills through extensive training opportunities. From Truck Rodeos to advanced driving simulators to team collaborations and more, creating a positive safety culture is at the center of how Frito-Lay supports these heroes.
Frito-Lay knows that behind each of our 2022 Million Milers is a critical support system at home. This year’s class converged on Plano, Texas, along with a guest, for a two-day celebration and awards ceremony with the company’s top executives.
“Our Million Milers and more than 2,400 OTR drivers are absolutely Frito-Lay’s competitive advantage,” Roberts notes. “Simply put, our drivers are the best of the best, with a focus on safety and bringing more smiles and a brighter future with every bite to consumers!”
