Plano , Texas ( August 8, 2007 ) – SunChips, Frito-Lay's popular brand of multigrain snacks, today announced the launch of a new sweet flavor in two varieties – SunChips Cinnamon and SunChips Cinnamon 100 Calorie Mini Bites. Like other SunChips snacks, the new Cinnamon flavored variety provides 18 grams of whole grain per 1 ounce serving, have 0 grams of trans fat and are cooked in sunflower oil. SunChips Cinnamon 100 Calorie Mini Bites provide the added convenience and benefit of portion-controlled packaging.

 

“Sweet snacks normally are not associated with whole grains,” says Gannon Jones, Vice President, Marketing, Frito-Lay North America. “SunChips Cinnamon snacks provide whole grains with the sweet satisfaction of a perfect mid-morning or after dinner treat. The early reaction from consumers to the new cinnamon flavor has been phenomenal.”

SunChips Cinnamon snacks are available nationally for $0.99 (3 oz.) and the SunChips 100 Calorie Mini Bites are available with 5 packs per box for $2.49. Family-sized bags of SunChips will be available nationally in October for $3.49 (11 oz.).

SunChips, available in Original, Harvest Cheddar, French Onion, Garden Salsa and now Cinnamon flavors, provide whole grains from a blend of corn, oats, rice and wheat and its packaging carries the FDA heart health claim “diets rich in whole grain foods and other plant foods, and low in saturated fat and cholesterol may help reduce the risk of heart disease.”
